Book Club white paper

One of our resources for LME Library patrons, Bookbrowse, has recently published a white paper on book clubs.  Bookbrowse is an online magazine for booklovers - including reviews, previews, "behind the book" backstories, author interviews, reading guides, and more. Access to Bookbrowse is on the LME Library website under "Library Subscription Databases" (left column).  LME Library card holders can also access Bookbrowse outside the library.

Based on recent research, in-depth interviews and extensive experience, BookBrowse's white paper provides an intriguing and insightful look at Book Clubs. Download it for free at https://www.bookbrowse.com/wp/?did=bbwpdm

The paper contains information about:
  • The two life stages when book club participation increases
  • How many belong to book clubs, both in-person and online
  • The five key attributes book clubs look for when choosing books
  • The importance of libraries
  • How many books book clubbers borrow
  • What men in book clubs think
  • What men interested in joining a book club want
  • How many Friends of the Library members are in a book club
The white paper also contains links to advice on how to start and run a book club, and interviews with a wide variety of book clubs, with a particular focus on clubs that meet in libraries and have a mix of men and women.
