August 2013 - Home by Toni Morrison

At our last bookgroup on July 29, we discussed Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker. Fortunately, we were able to assemble in the Turner Room even though the carpeting project is in progress. We had a peanut butter cake and a lemon crunch cake for dessert.

Our next meeting is August 26th at 3pm in the Turner Room--feel free to join us! We will be discussing Home by Toni Morrison.  Books are available at the library circulation desk and the discussions sheets are also available at the library or online.

Here is the summary:
"Frank is an angry, broken veteran of the Korean War who, after traumatic experiences on the front lines, finds himself back in racist America with more than just physical scars. He is shocked out of his apathy by the need to rescue his medically abused younger sister and take her back to the small Georgia town they come from and that he's hated all his life."
