Jan, 28th meeting - highlights

At our January 28th meeting, we discussed the Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh.  Vanessa donated her advance earnings of the book to start the Camellia Network.  The mission of the Camellia Network is to create a nationwide movement to support youth transitioning from foster care.  The website is: https://camellianetwork.org/

Our refreshments for the meeting reflected the flower theme.  Recipes can be found online for Dirt Cake and Almond Cappuccino Blossoms.

Since it was the 200th anniversary of the publishing of Pride and Prejudice, we talked a little about the popularity of Austen today.  Items discussed included:
Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James
Fitzwillam Darcy, Gentlemen series by Pamela Aiden
Austenland by Shannon Hale
Mr. Darcy's Little Sister by C. Allyn Pierson
Lost in Austen (movie)
A&E version of Pride & Prejudice (movie)

Our next meeting is February 25 at 3pm in the Turner Room.  We will be discussing the book, Bossypants by Tina Fey.
